Our recent Teacher Night events in San Jose, CA were a wonderful opportunity to connect with passionate Bay Area educators and share the transformative power of outdoor education. Hosted at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose and at the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), these gatherings brought together dedicated teachers and leaders from around the Bay Area who are committed to expanding hands-on, experiential learning for their students.
The intimate setting of both evenings created a unique space for one-on-one dialogue. Teachers had the opportunity to engage directly with NatureBridge staff and our Teacher Champions who have planned NatureBridge outdoor programs for their school for over a decade. The events offered educators who are curious about outdoor education programs a chance to ask questions, hear from teachers who have previously planned NatureBridge programs, and learn about the impact of our transformative learning experiences.
Throughout both nights, discussions spanned everything from trip logistics and safety to curriculum integration. Teachers learned how NatureBridge’s inquiry-based environmental science programs in Yosemite connect back to classroom standards, social-emotional growth, and STEM learning, all while hearing real stories about how immersive outdoor experiences at our national park classrooms build student confidence and teamwork.
Whether exploring funding opportunities, customized program options, or strategies for building student excitement for the trail, the shared energy across both evenings highlighted a common mission: empowering educators to step beyond classroom walls and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
