An Evening Outside with NatureBridge: Making Waves
Join us for an exciting evening in the great outdoors of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to explore our campus and get a firsthand look at our transformative student programs. Wear your finest outdoor gear (we encourage you to wear blue to go with our theme, “Making Waves!”), as you enjoy:
- A cocktail hour by the fire with live music, farm-to-table appetizers, a signature cocktail, wine and craft beer
- Interactive stations that bring the student experience to life led by NatureBridge educators
- A portrait session with the beautiful Marin Headlands as your backdrop
- Dinner and a short program in a heated tent overlooking the Marin Headlands and the Pacific Ocean
- An expertly curated live auction with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities

5:00 p.m. — Registration opens: Complimentary valet available in front of the registration tent
5:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. — Cocktail Reception: Explore our various learning labs and dorms, talk to and learn from our best-in-class educators at various activation stations, get your portrait taken with an epic ocean backdrop and more! A hosted bar and passed appetizers will be available for the duration of the reception
6:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. — Take a short, educator-led hike or shuttle to our clear-walled, heated dinner tent
6:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. — Dinner & Program: Hear from our 2024 Student of the Year, bid on one of our three live auction items and enjoy a keynote from Dr. Britt Wray while enjoying award-winning wine and a farm-to-table three course meal.

What should I wear?
We encourage you to dress in elevated outdoor wear (bonus points if you wear blue to go with our theme of “Making Waves!”).
You will be enjoying an interactive outdoor cocktail hour followed by a short hike up to our luxe, heated tent for dinner, so please be sure to wear comfortable shoes and layers.
Remember that there will be the option to have your portrait taken with the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean - something to consider when choosing your outfit!

Is the event ADA accessible?
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully.
Given our location in a national park, there is some uneven terrain. Dinner is a short uphill walk from the reception and a shuttle will be available to transport individuals to dinner. Please let us know if you have specific concerns and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Where will I park?
Valet parking is provided.

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?
NatureBridge event guests can receive special rates at Acqua Hotel and Marin Suites Hotel, pending availability. When you click on the links, the rates should be automatically added. If you have any issues please email us. We encourage you to make travel arrangements soon.
Alternative lodging options include the Holiday Inn Express in Mill Valley or The Best Western Corte Madera Inn.

Kai Diaz - Student of the Year
NatureBridge’s 2024 Student of the Year, Kai Diaz, was incredibly excited to experience Yosemite with NatureBridge in April 2020. Even after the trip was canceled twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kai was determined to make their Yosemite dreams a reality. In the spring of 2022, when Kai was a senior in high school, they finally made the trip that changed their life. It was an experience that became the highlight of their high school experience. From seeing the brilliance of the stars without the interference of urban light pollution to speaking Spanish with park staff and their NatureBridge educator, Sarah Sugarman, and finding meaningful representation in the outdoors, Kai's NatureBridge trip was truly transformative. After graduation, Kai decided to pursue a career in forestry, with the goal of being “part of the change to preserve and conserve nature.”

Dr. Britt Wray - Keynote Speaker
Britt Wray, PhD is an author and the Director of CIRCLE at Stanford Psychiatry, a research and action initiative focused on Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate Leadership and Emotional wellbeing in the Stanford School of Medicine. Britt is the author of two books; her latest, Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Anxiety, is an impassioned generational perspective on how to stay sane amid climate disruption.
