Anne Baxter’s connection to nature has permeated her professional and personal life. Anne worked as a public school teacher in Redwood City, CA where she ran the outdoor education programs for the school district. Before that she had taught for Outward Bound and for the Carlmont High School’s summer outdoor program. Eventually she went back to graduate school and received her degree in Clinical Psychology, and she currently has a private practice in Palo Alto, CA.
Anne has been involved with NatureBridge (then the Yosemite Institute) since 1994 when her nephew Matthew joined the organization as an educator. Along with the rest of the Baxter family, Anne is deeply passionate about the Baxter Award—an award created in memory of Matthew Baxter. The award supports NatureBridge staff to pursue an adventure about which they have dreamed. While on the board of the Golden Gate NatureBridge campus, she chaired the successful campaign to raise $3 million to provide housing for more students at the campus.
Anne has spent a great deal of time exploring Eastern Sierra Nevada while backpacking, fly fishing and birding.
