Our recent Teacher Night event in Chantilly, VA was a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers within the community and share the transformative power of outdoor education. Hosted at the Walney Visitor Center located within the beautiful Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, this gathering brought together 5th-12th grade teachers from Loudoun, Fairfax, and the D.C. area who are committed to expanding hands-on, experiential learning for their students.

Some teachers arrived already familiar with NatureBridge, while others were eager to learn more about our programs and their lasting impact on students. Attendees connected with NatureBridge staff and Teacher Champion Alex Thompson, who shared his firsthand experiences bringing students from two different schools to NatureBridge. Alex emphasized the transformative power of outdoor education, highlighting how NatureBridge creates unique opportunities for students to deepen their connections with classmates, teachers, and science beyond the traditional classroom setting. After he brought his students to NatureBridge Prince William Forest Park, he saw many positive changes in his students and a greater sense of connection and community within his classroom.

Teachers also learned how NatureBridge's inquiry-based environmental science programs in Prince William Forest Park connect back to classroom curriculum as they participated in interactive science stations facilitated by a NatureBridge educator. After discussing educational content, food and lodging, social-emotional learning, and curriculum alignment with the NatureBridge team, many teachers left the event inspired to plan a NatureBridge program for their students.
