Fire, Climate, and Biodiversity in the North Bay
You’re invited to an evening with David Ackerly, who will be sharing key insights on the intersection of climate change, wildfire resilience, and conservation in California. As the state balances housing pressures against ambitious biodiversity conservation and clean energy goals, David will zoom in on the issues shaping our region—focusing on the health of our parks and protected areas, emerging local climate trends, and the impacts of recent wildfires in the North Bay.
Join us at 5:30 p.m. for a light dinner provided by the NatureBridge kitchen. Our program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include an opportunity for Q and A.
Following the presentation, there will be an optional guided walk to the Point Bonita Lighthouse.

About David Ackerly
David Ackerly is a climate change biologist, professor in the departments of Integrative Biology and Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, and Dean of the Rausser College of Natural Resources at UC Berkeley. Ackerly’s research group studies the impacts of climate change and wildfire on biodiversity in California, and the implications for conservation strategies in the twenty-first century. Ackerly is a Fellow of the California Academy of Sciences, and the Ecological Society of America, and a Member of the Board of Directors of Point Blue Conservation Science. He received his B.A. in Biological Sciences from Yale University in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University in 1993.
