The Hospitality and Food Services Manager runs the food service and housekeeping operations at Olympic. The Hospitality and Food Services Manager supervises all cooks, hosts and housekeepers making schedules and covering shifts as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities #

Food service and housekeeping department leadership and supervision:

  • Supervise cooks (2), housekeepers and hosts (2‐3) directly.
  • Ensure food quality is high and that food is prepared using established procedures.
  • Monitor customer feedback with regards to food and hospitality.
  • Lead recruiting and management of cooks, housekeepers and hosts.
  • Ensure food service and food facilities comply with US health code.
  • Order and inventory food, kitchen supplies/equipment and custodial supplies.
  • Create a kitchen work schedule (working shifts as needed).
  • Schedule hosts (working shifts as needed) and housekeepers.
  • Interact with guests, students, staff and NPS staff in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Participate in other campus duties such as moving canoes and maintaining rescue boat.

Experience, Competencies & Education #

  • Degree in Culinary Arts or three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Skilled in all aspects of food preparation for large groups. 
  • Specialized knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, time management and organization skills.
  • Experience with varied dietary restrictions and allergies.  
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and the Internet.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands #

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to weather conditions outside at the time. The employee inside the kitchen is exposed to extreme heat and cold, wet and humid conditions, fire, boiling liquids, knives, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock in a confined area with other employees. The noise level of the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. This employee will use culinary tools and equipment along with major kitchen appliances. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Compensation #
