The Cook is responsible for preparation, proper storage, and service of quality meals, as assigned and supervised by the Facility Director. They are responsible for making meal substitutions for participants with allergies and dietary restrictions. This position is also responsible for daily kitchen cleaning.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals, according to U.S. Public Health standards, for groups up to seventy-five.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment to meet U.S. Public Health Standards.

Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or six month to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pound parcels.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor extreme weather conditions; such as high and low temperatures and rain and snow. There will be some after hours work and some weekends are required. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment during work duties with exposure to risk. Will have exposure to kitchen chemicals. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee will use culinary tools and equipment along with major kitchen appliances. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
