Exploring the Wonders of the Marin Headlands at Coastal Camp

Combined Shape Copy Created with Sketch.

Coastal Camp has officially wrapped for another season—and what a wonderful summer it has been! We welcomed over 1,600 participants this summer over our nine weeks of camp. Our campers explored every trail of the Marin Headlands, from the hills to the sea, down by Rodeo Beach! With a focus on coastal and ocean ecology, stewardship, and, of course, FUN, our campers made new friends and memories that we hope will last a lifetime.

We have campers that come back to Coastal Camp year after year, strengthening their relationship with the natural world and building a strong connection with the Marin Headlands. We even had a camper this summer—who has been attending since she was in elementary school—join us this year as a Counselor in Training! During the CIT program, she practiced leadership skills with some of our younger campers, learned how to plan and execute lessons, and led games and team building-activities. She hopes to return to Coastal Camp as a staff member in the future!

Coastal Camp provides an amazing, unique opportunity for kids to develop a love of exploring nature. Particularly for the kids that live in SF, like ours, it’s such a beautiful break from being in an urban environment and helps them realize they live near some truly spectacular nature.
