In 2000, he joined the NatureBridge Yosemite Board, where he is chair. He joined the National Board in 2002.

Allan worked as a strategic management consultant for many years, and lived in Peru, New York, Brazil, and Chicago before returning to San Francisco. He has been co-founder and CEO of two successful start-up companies. Currently he is active as a consultant and investor.

Allan and his wife, Kit, were married in New York, but nevertheless made a point of spending part of their honeymoon in Yosemite. They have a daughter and a son, both of whom attended NatureBridge programs.

A San Francisco native, Allan graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Business School.
